Sherlock is an splendid form of entertainment. And if you love it as much as I do, then you will love some of the following TV-shows, Movies and Animes.
Elementary is a modern take on the classic stories of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is now living and working as a detective in New York, although he lived and worked in England earlier. He works as a consultant to the NYPD and is assisted by the beautiful Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who now works as a sober companion. She is originally hired to help Sherlock stay away from his coke habit, but also ends up as an assistant for Sherlock.
It`s not the best Sherlock series, but it is still a good show. Interesting to have a female Dr. Watson.
Veronica Mars is a teenage crime solver with a Private Investigator for a dad. She helps out friend and schoolmates solving small and big problems, for a small fee of course, unless you qualify for a friends and family discount. While she works on these small episodic cases she also works on longer seasonal problems.
This is an absolute fantastic TV show. I have watched it multiple times. The only bad thing that really bugs me is the ending. It`s a shitty cliffhanger ending. You can drop the last season, or at last drop the last half.
Shawn Spencer posing as a psychic, he do this with his fail prof memory and excellent attention details. He and his best friend Gus is hired by the police after they manages to cons them into thinking that Shawn is a real psychic with powers that help to solve crimes.
Psych is a hilarious show full of witty commentary. I haven’t seen the last seasons, but I want to do it if I get time. This is a delightful show that will give you plenty of laughs.
Gregory House, anti-social, pain killer addict, witty and arrogant is of all things a medical doctor, and an excellent one at that. He specializes in diagnostic medicine and has his own unit at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. House and his team does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come there way. His skills are well known and other doctors around the states sends him patients they have no idea of what ails them.
I have only watched the first part, I kind of fell of the wagon when his team changed. But what I saw was absolutely fantastic. This show is full of witty comments.
DCI John Luther is a tenacious and near-genius murder detective. The brilliant detective might be just as dangerous as the criminals he hunts. He follows his own moral code as much as the rules of criminal law, which makes him cross a few lines while chasing criminal.
This is a really good crime show. Absolutely worth watching.
Two physicist and friends, Leonard Hofstadter, the normalish one, and Sheldon Cooper, the crazy one, shares an apartment together. One day a beautiful girl named Penny moves in to the apartment across these two nerdy geeks. This brings new excitement into their life, and the life of their friends; Raj, the astrophysicist that cant talk to women, and Howard, the sexually frustrated engineer. They love silence facts, comic books, super heroes, fantasy, sci-fy, and all things geeky.
This is the best show ever created. Absolutely fantastic. I have watched it multiple times and I am laughing just as hard every time I watch it. I wish I had some friends like them.
This shows are actually entirely different, but I think there are some kind of similarities between some of the characters. Sherlock is for some reason reminding me slightly about Sheldon. The only differences is that Sherlock has his mind focused on crime solving, better at reading human emotions and he is a sexual being.
Patrick Jane a former famous psychic outs himself as a fake after a serial killer called Red John kills his family. Jane blames himself because he right before the murder where mocking Red John on national TV in his psychic persona. He starts working as a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation so he easier can hunt down Red John. His skills as a mentalist, ex psychic comes in handy when working on cases because he is exceptional at drawing logical conclusions from minute details.
This is a really good show. They drag the Red John story out a little to long, but that`s OK since the main part of the show are the individual cases.
Both are about police consultants, and excellent at observing minute clues and drawing mostly correct conclusions.
Adrian Monk is a ingenious San Francisco detective. Since the murder of his wife he has suffered from intensified OCD and a variety of phobias. Before this he was a detective at San Francisco Police Department but he was laid-of because of his problems. He later have managed to come back as an consultant.
This is a good detective show. I watched up to season 5 or 6, but then I fell of. But I have some fun memories from the parts I did watch.
Dr. Cal Lightman is a a deception specialist that read the truth from people`s faces. He has partnered up with Dr. Gillian Foster to create the Lightman Group, selling their services as deception experts. His personal team also includes Eli Loker and Ria Torres. They also start to cooperate with the FBI with Ben Reynolds as their liaison. They tackle all kind of cases using their skills to look for deception.
This is a really good series. It`s interesting to see how facial and body reading is used to solve cases.
Charles Eppes, a mathematician , and his brother, Special Agent Don Eppes teams up to solve criminal cases for the FBI together. Charles and his friends from Caltech university uses equations to help solve various crimes.
This is a cool series. I have watched it a couple of times. It`s interesting to see how they use different algorithms to solve criminal cases. Like most shows they do simplify things. Some of the data points are way to complicated to gather in the time they do and some of the data is way to generalized to get so exact results as they get. I could keep going, but this is not important. This show still rocks.
An FBI most wanted fugitive, Raymond Reddington, joins FBI to help bring down criminals and terrorists. He agrees to help catching these bad guys only if he gets Elizabeth Keen, a rookie FBI profiler, as his handler. After their first victory, a list of dangerous but unknown criminals is revealed by Red. And with a special teem they start to catch them one by one.
I like it, a cool show. Not only is the show about catching criminal, a second thrilling plot line surrounding Elizabeth Keen is also in play over the whole show. It`s cool to watch world wide criminals taken down. I wonder if there exist people similar to Raymond Reddington, that would be scary.
Lord Blackwood, serial killer and occult “sorcerer”, was stooped by the legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson. But he mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, and Holmes, with the aid of Dr. Watson, must take up the hunt once again.
A good movie with great actors. This new interpretation of Sherlock Holmes started a sprout of new Sherlock movies and series, which is great.
Yagami Light is a 17-year-old genius from Japan. One day he stumbles upon a notebook with the words “Death Note” written on the front. Unbeknown to Light, this book used to belong to Shinigami (death Good) called Ryuk. The first sentence in this book states that anyone whose name is written inside will die. Light falls for his all to human curiosity an try the book. Discovering that this is actually true, Light decide to use this power to change the world in his image and become God of the New World. Light soon meats resistance from another genius known as L. He is working against Light’s beliefs and Light himself.
This is a really good anime. This might be a good starting point if you never have watched animes before. If you have experience with animes then you probably already have watched this show.
Light is a kind of evil Sherlock. Perhaps like a mix of Sherlock and Moriarty.
What do you think, are they similar to Sherlock? Anything else you think should be on this list?
