Killjoys is a splendid form of entertainment. And if you love it as much as I do, then you will love some of the following TV-shows and Animes.
The year is 2046 and over 30 years have passed since aliens arrived. They drastically altered earth by terraforming it and colonizing it. In the frontier town of Defiance the different alien species and humans are living side by side. This off course is not without tension between the different spices, which makes for a lot of small, and not so small, problems to overcome.
This is a great post-apocalyptic show. I really hope it will get many more seasons.
A spaceship out in the farthest reaches of space is on its way to a remote mining colony. Inside it has a crew of six people who has had their memories wiped clean, they have no recollection of who they are or how they got on board. The ship has a cargo bay full of weapons and the mining colony is about to become a war zone.
It looks like this show has a low-budget, but it is still a great show. I like it.
Dark Matter and Killjoys has many similarities going for them. Both shows are about a crew with special members that have a spaceship. Killjoys is more on the bounty hunter side while Dark Matter is more on the mercenaries side.
Captain Malcolm ‘Mal’ Reynolds, a former galactic war veteran, is the captain of the transport ship Serenity. He is kind of like Han Solo from Star Wars, a small time smuggler hiding behind his legal transport services. His crew consists of Zoe, his old war buddy and Wash, the pilot and Jayne Cobb, the muscle and Kaylee Frye, the mechanic and Simon Tam, the medic and River, Simon`s sister and Inara Serra, a courtesan and Shepherd Book, a preacher.Together they do any jobs, legal or illegal. They travels across the outskirts of outer space sparking up trouble wherever they go.
This is a superb show. I can’t fathom why it got cancelled after only one season. I want a new show like this.
If you love one then you are most likely going to love the other. They have a very similar feel to them and the both are stunningly good.
Dominion is set 25 years after “The Extinction War”. That was when an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, waged war against mankind. In this war the archangel Michael turned against his own kind and chose to side with humanity. He lives now as a guardian in the fortified city of Vega where he help humanity to survive against Gabriel and his minions.
Dominion is a very good show set in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by angles.
Astronaut John Crichton is on an experimental space mission to test a new spacecraft slingshoting around the globe. He is accidentally is accidentally sucked into a wormhole and emerged into the midst of an intergalactic conflict far out in the universe. He joins the crew on Moya ( a living sentient bio-mechanical space ship ) who picked him up after his unfortunate wormhole ride. He has get to grips with living among alien creatures wielding deadly technology and being hunted by the Peacekeepers, a merciless military race.
This is a cool sciences fiction show, but not the best. I could for some reason not stomach the actor playing John Crichton. I had problems with him when he was on SG-1 also. This is probably just me, and many will likely disagree with me on this. If you have no problems with him, then this show might be pretty good, absolutely worth watching.
Captain Dylan Hunt and his sentient warship Andromeda has been frozen in time for 300 years circling around the border of a black hole. For him the time of the Commonwealth was yesterday and not 300 years ago. He is rescued from the black hole by a salvage ship and its crew. They of course have no idea he is still alive and on board. They are only after the money the can get for the ship. The crew of the salvage ship is left for dead by their captain, and they ends up joining Captain Dylan Hunt on his quest to restore the Commonwealth and bring unity to the galaxy once again.
I remember I loved it the first time I watched this show. But when I tried to watch it a second time I was bored. However, I still believe it is worth giving this show a try.
Kiera Cameron, a detective from the year 2077, finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future called Liber8. Kiera poses as a government agent and joins forces with police detective Carlos Fonnegra and teen genius Alec Sadler to capture the terrorists before they can alter the future. The future of 2077 is a dystopian one in which world governments have collapsed and corporations now dominate the planet.
I like it. I have not watched the last season of Continuum jet, but it is on my soon to watch list.
Falling Skies opens in the aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. The few remaining survivors have banded together. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people while engaging in a campaign against the occupying alien force, whose purpose remains a mystery. – Amazon
Based on the excellent book series; Women of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong. We follow Elena Michaels a werewolf that abandoned her pack to take refuge in the new city with where she got a successful photography career. But trouble is brewing at the packs home, and her alpha is calling her back to help out. What will come of her peaceful life, and will the pack survive.
I hope this series is going to last for a long time. It is excellent show and they have plenty of material to build on from the books.
Gene Starwind and his partner Jim Hawking run a small business on the planet Centinel 3. They claim that they can do any job. One day they are hired by a woman to be her bodyguard. Unknown to them, she is an outlaw in disguise, which is kind of awkward because Gene makes money on the side by bounty hunting. They are unwillingly trusted into a mystery where they have to deal with intergalactic cops, pirates, aliens and assassins. Luckily for them, they have the galaxy’s most advanced ship on their side.
Outlaw Star ranges from light-hearted humour to dark philosophical questioning. Gene Starwind kind of reminds me of Starlord, which is a very good thing. If you are into animes then you should definitely give this one a try.
Spike Spiegel is a bounty hunter. Together with his partners Jet Black, Faye Valentine , Edward and their dog Ein they hunt across the galaxy looking for any high bounty fugitives to bag.
This is one of the classic must see animes. Cowboy Bebop is recommended even if you are not a big fan of animes.
Do you agree? Anything else you think should be on this list?
