Death Note is a splendid form of entertainment. And if you love it as much as I do, then you will love some of the following Animes, TV-shows and Books.
Lelouch Lamperouge is an abandoned prince of the Holy Britannian Empire. He hides his true identity as a student in the colonized territory of Area 11, formerly known as Japan. After he acquires the power of “Geass” from the mysterious girl named C.C., which enables him to command anyone to obey his order, he wears the mask of Zero and begins his rebellion against his own father’s empire, so that he can take revenge for his assassinated mother. – Amazon
Code Geass is an excellent anime. It is one of the better animes I have ever watched.
The main protagonist is a genius like Light and L. He is also ruthless in his goals just like Light.
Two siblings with social problems and a gigantic gaming addiction are selected and sent into an alternate universe. This universe is about gaming. All conflict and problems are solved by games. No murder or violence are possible. They set out to get enough power and influence by winning game so they can play against the god of this universe, the god of gaming.
The premiss of this anime sounds a little silly, but the anime turns out to be really good. If you like anime and gaming, then this is a must watch.
The two siblings in No Game No Life are highly intelligent at their field, just like L and Light.
The domed city of Romdo is supposed to be perfect, but Re-l Mayer, a young female inspector from the Civilian Intelligence Office, knows better. In this place where humans and robots coexist, she receives a strange message: something is awakening.
Ergo Proxy is a really good anime that forces you to think. Great stuff.
Lucy, a Diclonius, is saved by Kohta, a university student, and Yuka, his cousin. They found her naked and half drowned on the beach. Lucy has no memories and they let her stay in Kouta’s home. What they do not know is that she is a Diclonius, a mutated human with telekinetic abilities, and that she is a serial killer that has escaped from a government research facility.
Elfen Lied was one of the first animes I watched, and for a long time it was my favourite anime too. This is a must watch anime, especially for anime fans. But others might like it too.
One day, Yukiteru discovers that his cell phone “diary” can now tell him the events of the future. The problem is, eleven others also have similar diaries, and only one can win this Survival Game. The winner becomes a god. The losers: DEAD END.
Mirai Nikki (future diary) is an OK anime. Slightly better than average, but nothing special.
Mirai Nikki is centred around special diaries, just like Death Note. Only these diaries see the owners future .
Your emotional state and intentions can be read by the Sibyl system, and the government uses it to stop crime. Cops work in teams made up of Enforcers and Inspectors. Enforcers take out the bad guys, Inspectors stop their partners from going rogue, and the all-powerful Sibyl System keeps a watchful eye on us all.
Psycho-Pass is an interesting dystopia anime. Absolute worth giving a try.
MMORPG gamers find themself transported into the game they play. Shiroe and the others in Log Horizon attempt to live their lives out in the new world they find themselves trapped in. Form governments, deal with NPCs and other players.
Log Horizon is a very good anime. It`s about more than simple fighting.
Log Horizon also has a highly intelligent protagonist. He is not evil like Light, but he can be ruthless in archiving his goals.
Sherlock is a new contemporary take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle stories. Many of the details and stories from the original books are kept, only modernized to fit in today’s society and technology. Now his most important tool, after his brilliant mind, is a modern smartphone. Doctor Watson is a fairly young medical veteran of the Afghan war. Together they navigate a web of cryptic clues and myriad of lethal killers to get at the truth
This is the best adoption of the Sherlock Holmes books I have ever watched. It`s truly exiting to watch Sherlock’s fast and leaping but accurate deductions. This is a show everyone should try out.
L is similarish to Sherlock while Light might be a kind of Moriarty.
Dexter Morgan, by day a blood spatter pattern expert for the Miami Metro police department, but by night he becomes a brutal serial killer. Dexter, Like most serial killers, only kills people who fit a very specific profile. He follows a “moral code” taught to him by his late father Harry, he only kills violent criminals that slips between lady justice`s fingers. Dexter is grappling with fitting into society while, at the same time, he struggles with his inability to feel emotion.
Each season of Dexter is made up of a story that start at episode one and ends at the season finale. I have not watched the last season jet, but I a going to because this is an absolute fantastic series. It is strange how the writers manage to have feelings for a serial killer.
Dexter and Light both murder bad people.
The earth’s government agencies started to breed child geniuses to train as soldiers in order to develop a secure defense against a hostile alien race’s next attack. The brilliant young boy Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is drafted to the orbiting Battle School for rigorous military training. Ender’s skills make him a leader among his peers and respected in the Battle Room, where they play at mock battles in zero gravity. Will Ender become the great general Earth needs to survive?
Do not judge a book by its authors personal views. This is an excellent book, and you should not forego it because of Orson Scott Card stupid personal views.
Ender is highly intelligent and kind of brutal. He is like a mix of Light and L.
When he was nine, he watched as his mother and brother were killed before him. At thirteen, he led a band of bloodthirsty thugs. By fifteen, he intends to be king…
Prince of Thorns is a great book, and Prince Honorous Jorg Ancrath is a great anti-hero. This is a must read, as long as you are OK with anti heroes as protagonists.
Prince of Thorns has an anti-hero just like Light. Intelligent, ambitious, and ruthless in archiving his goals.
Murderous conspiracies, old scores ready to be settled, unpredictable, compelling, wickedly funny, and packed with unforgettable characters, We follow the characters the infamous barbarian Logen Ninefingers, Captain Jezal dan Luthar, Inquisitor Glokta and he wizard Bayaz. Jezal is a nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness. He has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. Glokta, a cripple turned torturer, loves cutting treason out of the Union one confession at a time. Bayaz, an old man with a terrible temper, he could be the First of the Magi, he could be a spectacular fraud, but whatever he is, he’s about to make the lives of Logen, Jezal, and Glotka a whole lot more difficult.
The Blade Itself is the first book in the The Blade Itself. This book, especially Glokta with his biting and interesting internal monologues, is among the better fantasy books. You will have a blast reading this.
Glokta is kind of like Light. He dosn`t care about human life and is ruthless in archiving his goals.
Do you agree? Anything else you think should be on this list?
