If you like “Arrow”, then you might enjoy…

If you like Arrow then you will most likely like some or all of the following recommended TV-shows and Movies. I find them to have some degree of similarity with Arrow.

Oliver Queen returns home after having being lost at sea for five years and presumed dead. Oliver survived on an uncharted island, but he wasn’t alone, and to survive he had to learn how to fight. Back in Starling City as a changed man, he has decided to right his fathers and all others corrupted fallout. He disguises himself with the hood of one of his first mysterious island mentors. Arms himself with a bow and high tech gadgets. With this he sets about hunting down the men and women who have corrupted his city.

“In every generation there is a chosen one… she alone will stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. She is the slayer”. Buffy, a sexy kick-ass high school girl, is her generations chosen one. Destined to slay vampires, demons and other infernal creatures, while still trying, and failing, to be just a “normal girl”. Luckily for her, she is not alone in her quest to save the world. She has help of her group of friends, the hilarious evil-fighting team called “The Scooby Gang”.

I remember watching this when I was young. I watched it on TV, so I missed some episodes, but it still was really good. I plan to get it some time in the future an rewatch the whole series. I remember having a teen crush on her so maybe my opinions are flavoured by that.

Both have a kick-ass person fighting evil with a team of friends backing them up. The main differences are the opposite genders and the genre. Arrow is a superhero show while Buffy are a paranormal show.

Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt discovers he is a descendant of hunters who fight supernatural forces, the Grimms. They are charged with keeping balance between humanity and the creatures of myth. A reformed “Big Bad Wolf”, now a reformed vegetarian, becomes his greatest helper and confidant.

The creators have earlier made shows like Buffy and Angle. Grimm has some high standards to live up to, and it does so remarkably well. This Show is a kind of modern take on the Grimm`s fairytales, and highly recommended to watch by people liking these kind of shows.

Super natural crime fighting. Grimm is more on the paranormal side.

John Reese, a former CIA operative, is recruited by Harold Finch, billionaire software-genius, to prevent violent crimes. Harold created a machine for the government, a machine that is designed to detect acts of terror before they can happen. This is done by monitoring the entire world through every cell-phone, email and surveillance camera. Harold discovered that the machine sees everything from potential terrorist acts to violent crimes that involve ordinary people. The government considered everything but acts of terror “irrelevant”, so Harold made the system capable of giving him the social security number of a person involved in a future violent crime. Harold and John works together to try to stop these crimes before they happen.

This show has a good timing with Snowden`s released documents. If we only get a little father in the AI field we might soon have machines like this. I love the show, but hate the thought of governments getting machines like this.

Both have skilled men fighting for justice while using high tech equipment.

Kiera Cameron, a detective from the year 2077, finds herself trapped in present day Vancouver and searching for ruthless criminals from the future called Liber8. Kiera poses as a government agent and joins forces with police detective Carlos Fonnegra and teen genius Alec Sadler to capture the terrorists before they can alter the future. The future of 2077 is a dystopian one in which world governments have collapsed and corporations now dominate the planet.

I like it. I have not watched the last season of Continuum jet, but it is on my soon to watch list.

Kick as superhuman crime fighters. Kiera Cameron is from the future and here crime fighting prowers are backed up by future technology.

100 young convicts from a dying space station are sent back to earth 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse to see if it’s habitable. In 97 years the world has bean dramatically altered by the nuclear fallout. Are the humans from the space station truly the only survivors, as they believe, or are they wrong?

I like this series, I hope very much that this series do not meet an early demise like Terra Nova did.

A young Clark Kent struggles to find his place in the world as he learns to harness his alien powers for good and deals with the typical troubles of teenage life in Smallville. We follow Clark Kent before he becomes Superman and see how and why he becomes the man he later becomes.

I remember watching this when I was younger. It is a good family friendly show. It is interesting to see of Clark Kent was before he takes on is responsibilities as superman.

Oliver Queen is part of both these series. He is introduced later in the Smallville seasons.

Scott McCall’s life changes forever when he is bitten by a werewolf and becomes one himself. Some changes are positive, like strength, super-hearing and a super healing. But there are problems and dangers that come along with being a lycanthrope, both from other werewolfs and other creatures, but also from werewolf hunters.

I like it. I think it is better than the more popular show Vampires Diary. If you like other teen paranormal shows then you will most likely like this one to.

Elementary is a modern take on the classic stories of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock is now living and working as a detective in New York, although he lived and worked in England earlier. He works as a consultant to the NYPD and is assisted by the beautiful Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who now works as a sober companion. She is originally hired to help Sherlock stay away from his coke habit, but also ends up as an assistant for Sherlock.

It`s not the best Sherlock series, but it is still a good show. Interesting to have a female Dr. Watson.

Sydney Bristow is an international spy recruited out of college and trained for espionage and self-defense. Sydney Bristow is on the suffice a young, athletic, college graduate, but she is not your average grad student. Sydney was recruited her freshman year as a secret agent for SD-6, a top-secret branch of the CIA. However, her life are soon to be even more complex and dangerous than that of the average spy.

This is an excellent spy thriller, full of fast paced action and great stories. Even my mother that is not to found of action shows where hooked on this one.

Brought together to form one extraordinary team of “Alphas” – people whose unique brain anomalies imbue them with superhuman mental and physical abilities – five seemingly ordinary citizens must take the law into their own hands while working within the government to investigate a new brand of baffling crime. – Amazon

This is an excellent series, but I am not sure if I should recommend it. There is one thing that I hate with this series, and that one thing are the reason to why I will never buy this show. They cancelled it with a cliff hanger. That should be a criminal offence, an offence punished by no TV for the rest of their life.

Dexter Morgan, by day a blood spatter pattern expert for the Miami Metro police department, but by night he becomes a brutal serial killer. Dexter, Like most serial killers, only kills people who fit a very specific profile. He follows a “moral code” taught to him by his late father Harry, he only kills violent criminals that slips between lady justice`s fingers. Dexter is grappling with fitting into society while, at the same time, he struggles with his inability to feel emotion.

Each season of Dexter is made up of a story that start at episode one and ends at the season finale. I have not watched the last season jet, but I an going to because this is an absolute fantastic series. It is strange how the writers manage to have feelings for a serial killer.

Not exactly sure why I feel they belong together. I think it is because they both quite ok with killing some bad guys. But Dexter is way worse than the Arrow.

A rogue assassin returns to take down the secret organization that trained her.

As young boy Clark Kent learns that he has extraordinary powers and that he is an alien from another planet. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and why he was sent to our planet. He is forced to reveal his true identity when Earth is invaded by an army of survivors, banished rebels, from his home planet Krypton who threaten to rebuild their planet on earth by destroying the current inhabitants. The hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

This movie is much better than the 2006 version of Superman. It is absolutely worth watching.

They are both superheroes and from the same universe.

Earth’s mightiest heroes must come together and learn to fight as a team if they are to stop the trickster Loki and his alien army from enslaving humanity. With the backing of S.H.I.E.L.D they are rounded up in a team called The Avengers, consisting of six heavy hitters, Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk and Thor. Supporting them are also Black Widow, Hawkeye and Nick Fury.

This is among the best superheroes movies Marvel has made. Probably because so many of them are tossed together in one movie.

Super heroes, what other reason do you need…

Batman Begins tells the story of the origins of the Batman legend and how the Dark Knight emerges as a force for good in Gotham city. After the death of his parents, Bruce Wayne, a disillusioned industrial heir, travels the world seeking the means to fight injustice. He returns to Gotham and unveils his alter-ego. Batman, a masked crusader who uses his strength, intellect and his significant fortune to buy an arsenal of high tech equipments to fight the sinister forces that threaten the city.

This is the first movie in the best Batman trilogy ever created. He is also one of my top super heroes, shearing the top spot with Iron Man.

Steve Rogers is desperate to join the army and fight for the Allied forced in WWII, but sadly for him he is unfit for duty. He volunteers for a top secret super soldier research project. This project is a success, but it gets destroyed by the enemy and Rogers are the only test subject. Rogers becomes Captain America. He soon finds him self fighting HYDRA, the Nazi Germany`s secret research organization. They have a sinister plan that if seceded will make them rulers of the world.

Captain America is a cool superhero, a little less powerful than some, but among the cooler ones. This is a really cool superhero movie about the earlier days of superheroes.

So there you have it, 16 ideas for what to do after finishing Arrow. What do you recommend, please mention why you recommend it to?
